Was the party catered? Maybe. We're not sure. What we are sure of is that there is ample food for everyone. So much food it would make you say "Wow. Did R. pay to have this event catered?"

Aren't you supposed to use the phrase "as if" for situations that would never happen? Or at least not be that likely to happen?
Like, for instance, "he was eating the sandwich as if he was getting PAID to do it."
or
"He was flirting with me all night, as if I'd ever ever even consider going out with him."
Something like that. Here, R. is acting like the party being catered is such an outlandish proposition, when in reality it's actually very likely that someone else was paid to provide him food.
But this isn't a criticism of R.'s lyrics. I wouldn't have him change a thing.
I like entertaining the possibility that the party wasn't catered. Maybe R.'s sister cooked a bunch of food for him, knowing that he'd be entertaining and that last deli tray he got from kroger at the last minute was embarassing . Or R. himself spent all day before the party making tiny quiches and prociutto rolls.
At no point does R. Kelly mention whether the child lock in the Navigator has been engaged--coincidence? I think not.
